Ticino accelerates digital services: why SMEs should rethink their websites

Permits, vehicle plates and administrative procedures are going digital. In 2026, Ticino users expect more—and SME websites must evolve from showcases into services.

In 2026, more everyday interactions in Ticino are becoming digital. Civil protection service records moved to a federal platform on 1 June; migration permit applications will be submitted exclusively online from August; and new digital vehicle-plate procedures arrived on 10 July. Citizens and businesses increasingly expect a complete service, not just information on a screen.

The new expectation: solve, do not search

The Canton’s digital transformation portal describes efficient, transparent, secure and interconnected services. An SME does not need to copy a government project, but it should recognise the same shift. Visitors expect to request a detailed quotation, book, upload a document or follow a case without restarting by phone.

A showcase website still matters, but it is not enough when work remains scattered across email, spreadsheets, calls and manual data entry.

Five useful local services

  • Guided quotations that collect complete information.
  • Bookings linked to real resources and reminders.
  • Customer portals for documents, progress and support.
  • Internal workflows connecting website data to CRM or ERP.
  • Multilingual, accessible journeys designed for mobile devices and WCAG criteria.

For a craft business this means better enquiries; for a practice, orderly documents; for tourism, multilingual bookings; for an association, accessible forms.

Digitisation is more than adding a form

A service must be designed end to end: observe the real journey, identify required data and errors, build a simple prototype, test it and connect it gradually to internal tools. Security and privacy belong in every phase. The Canton also launched Ticino CyberSicuro in April 2026.

The ElaraTeq method

ElaraTeq Sagl operates from Lumino. We combine brand and interface design, websites and web applications, custom ERP and CRM systems, content, accessibility and secure Swiss hosting.

We start with an operational objective such as fewer incomplete emails or faster case handling. Together we define an indicator, design the journey, build integrations and measure the outcome. Where useful, automation and AI can classify requests, suggest answers or help search authorised documents, while important decisions remain controlled by the organisation.

We can meet clients in Ticino, observe the process, train the team and improve the solution after delivery. Tell ElaraTeq about your process and let us build a website, portal or automation around the way you really work.
