Sunday, 25 October 2026. We bring together the relevant facts of the last 24 hours, each checked against a primary or reliable source. The weekend is dominated by security news, alongside the weekly ETF figures and two regulatory developments.

Markets: bitcoin around 80,700 dollars, ETFs positive for the week

According to CoinGecko data checked on 25 October at 18:10 (Zurich time), bitcoin is trading around 80,700 US dollars, about 66,600 Swiss francs, up 0.8% over 24 hours after briefly slipping below 80,000 dollars on Saturday. Ether is around 2,350 dollars (+1.7%). Over seven days both remain slightly below last Sunday's levels.

According to Farside data, US-listed spot bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of 301.2 million dollars in the week from 19 to 23 October, ending two consecutive weeks of outflows (-678.9 and -228.4 million). The October balance remains provisionally negative at about 314 million, as Friday's figure for one smaller fund was not yet available. Ether ETFs ended the week at -220.7 million, the fourth negative week of the month.

Bar chart of weekly net flows into US spot bitcoin and ether ETFs in October 2026, in millions of US dollars, Farside data: bitcoin +292.6 (1-2 October), -678.9 (5-9), -228.4 (12-16) and +301.2 (19-23); ether -92.8, -542.2, -320.1 and -220.7

Security: Electrum fixes a flaw exploited by malicious servers

The developers of the Electrum bitcoin wallet have released version 4.8.3 together with a high-severity security advisory covering all earlier versions. A malicious server could hold back a freshly broadcast transaction and display instead an invalid transaction to an attacker's address, chosen so that its last characters matched the expected one. If the user then bumped the fee via RBF, they were in effect signing a payment to the attacker. According to the advisory, the attack has been seen in practice and at least one user lost funds. The fix verifies the signatures of mempool transactions. Users connected to their own trusted server are not exposed; in any case it is advisable to update and to check address and amount before signing.

Security: Keystone confirms customer data breach

Hardware wallet maker Keystone said on Saturday that on 20 October it detected unauthorised access to its official website and on 23 October, after verifying API activity with Shopify, confirmed that a third party had obtained customer shipping information: names, contact details, addresses and order details. Payment data, recovery phrases and private keys were reportedly not exposed. Keystone warns of possible scams by phone, text, email or post and has announced a detailed report. According to The Block, some customers say orders older than 180 days, which the company had promised to delete, were also affected; this claim has not been independently verified.

South Korea: leaning towards another delay of the crypto tax

South Korea's presidential office said on Sunday that a fourth postponement of the tax on crypto-asset income, due to take effect on 1 January 2027, is "under review" and that nothing has been decided yet. According to Yonhap and Hankyoreh, the direction is nonetheless towards a delay. Reasons cited by an official include the fact that the United States will only join the OECD's CARF automatic information exchange from 2029, as well as the situation of young investors. The tax would apply a 22% rate to gains above 2.5 million won.

Latvia: tokenisation rules possible in 2027

Latvian Economics Minister Viktors Valainis told CoinDesk that rules on the tokenisation of real-world assets could arrive in the first half of 2027. Commercial property would be a good starting point, and government bonds are among the priorities. The legal assessment foreseen in the national action plan is still ongoing, while a new government is being formed after this month's election.
