After the tech-led selloff, bitcoin regains ground near 76,000 dollars. US spot bitcoin ETFs lose 430.2 million, Nigeria's central bank introduces stablecoin licences and Gate publishes its PoSEC cold-storage framework.

Friday, 6 November 2026. We gather the relevant facts of the last 24 hours, each checked against a primary or reliable source. The day is shaped by bitcoin's stabilisation after the tech selloff, heavy outflows from spot ETFs and two developments on regulation and exchange transparency.

Markets: bitcoin steadies near 76,000 dollars

According to CoinDesk, bitcoin fell below 76,000 dollars in Thursday's session, dragged down by the Nasdaq Composite's 5.5% drop on concerns that spending on artificial-intelligence data centres could slow after the midterm election results. The S&P 500 also fell about 4.3%. Citing CoinGlass data, CoinDesk reports more than one billion dollars of leveraged positions liquidated in 24 hours, mostly long bets, with liquidations around 1.26 billion dollars in one account. On Friday bitcoin regained ground around 76,000 dollars after dipping near 75,200 dollars late on Thursday. On CoinGecko, checked today at 18:11 (Zurich time), bitcoin trades around 75,900 dollars, roughly 62,200 Swiss francs. Ether is close to 2,231 dollars.

ETFs: 430.2 million in outflows from spot bitcoin ETFs

Farside Investors data show that on Thursday 5 November US spot bitcoin ETFs recorded 430.2 million dollars in net outflows after the 74.6 million inflow on 4 November. Fidelity's FBTC lost 199.9 million and BlackRock's IBIT 105.0 million, extending IBIT's outflow streak; Grayscale's GBTC lost 49.9 million, while ARKB, EZBC and HODL also posted net outflows. Ether ETFs recorded 99.9 million in net outflows, with BlackRock's ETHA at 75.2 million and ETHB at 22.0 million. Nigeria: the central bank introduces stablecoin licences

The Central Bank of Nigeria has introduced licensing requirements for stablecoin issuers and other non-security virtual asset service providers. According to The Block and the CBN regulation, the rules distinguish naira-referenced stablecoins (Class 1) from foreign-currency ones (Class 2), ban algorithmic stablecoins and impose anti-money-laundering, sanctions screening and Travel Rule obligations. Foreign issuers may offer foreign-currency tokens to Nigerians only through a Nigerian-incorporated entity holding a Foreign Currency Issuer Licence. The rules took effect on 5 November 2026; existing operators have 180 days to apply.

Exchanges: Gate launches PoSEC on cold storage

After last week's attack on Binance hot wallets, several exchanges published cold-to-hot storage ratios. Gate announced its Proof of Security (PoSEC) framework on 5 November: according to the 00:00 UTC snapshot on 4 November 2026, 88.26% of the platform's assets were in cold storage and 11.74% in hot wallets, with declared cold coverage of 104.58% of customer assets under its methodology. Unlike proof of reserves, PoSEC focuses on storage structure and whether cold assets alone could cover customer balances if hot wallets were lost. Gate notes that the figures are undergoing independent third-party verification. Cointelegraph also reports Coinbase's claim that more than 99% of customer assets sit offline, and similar statements from other operators; the ratios are not necessarily comparable because reporting periods and calculation bases differ.
