Monday, 2 November 2026. We gather the relevant facts of the last 24 hours, each checked against a primary or reliable source. Alongside the Binance developments, the day brings a new exchange hack and news on tokenized shares and bank-issued stablecoins.

Binance completes its proof of reserves for ten assets

In its latest recovery update, published on Monday, Binance says it has completed the zero-knowledge proof for its 31 October reserve snapshot. Holders of BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC can independently verify that their balances are backed 1:1. Coverage of the stolen assets remains at 95%. A new snapshot is planned for Wednesday 4 November, with about 40 to 50 hours of computation, while further networks will reopen in phases from Tuesday.

According to a spokesperson quoted by Reuters, net outflows since Sunday's reopening have risen to 4.72 billion dollars, about 2.8% of assets. US dollar cash withdrawals were also restored on Monday.

Circle freezes over 1.1 billion USDC

Circle told CNBC that, in coordination with law enforcement, it has frozen more than 1.1 billion USDC linked to the Binance attack, up from over 800 million reported on Friday. According to Reuters, about half of the stolen funds were held in stablecoins, which issuers then blocked.

Mercado Bitcoin halts deposits and withdrawals

Brazilian exchange Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday after wallets on at least ten blockchains were drained. Security firms estimate losses above 40 million dollars, with the main outflows between 06:19 and 06:53 UTC. These were plain transfers, not a smart contract exploit. The exchange says it contained the incident with no harm to customers and no data breach. Tether has frozen 4.5 million USDT linked to the hack. There is no attribution and no known link to the Binance case.

Tokenized shares: 50 companies object to OKX–ICE

Nvidia, Costco, Nike and Micron are among twelve new companies refusing to have their shares traded on the tokenized venue of OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, bringing objections to 50 according to the 30 October notice. Built under the SEC's innovation exemption, the venue would let investors trade digital versions of US stocks around the clock, paying in stablecoins. For companies notified on 4 October, the 30-day window ends around Tuesday.

Bar chart of the companies proposed for the OKX–ICE tokenized stock venue: 43 of the 62 initially selected have objected, 19 have no disclosed objection, and 7 further objections come from companies outside the selection, for a total of 50

HSBC's RedCoin passes 50,000 users

At Hong Kong FinTech Week, CEO Georges Elhedery said RedCoin, HSBC's Hong Kong dollar stablecoin redeemable 1:1, has reached 50,000 users just over a week after its 23 October launch in the PayMe app. It runs on a permissioned blockchain based on Hyperledger Besu. An independent reserve attestation is expected after the fourth quarter.

Markets and institutional buying

According to CoinGecko, checked today at 18:11 Zurich time, bitcoin trades around 77,365 dollars, about 63,300 francs (−0.9% over 24 hours). Ether is near 2,265 dollars and BNB at 702 dollars, while USDT and USDC remain close to parity. Strategy told the SEC it bought 811 BTC for about 65.5 million between 26 October and 1 November, bringing its holdings to 849,327 BTC.
