Ticino opens a new path to responsible AI: from infrastructure to real projects
The agreement linking the Canton, Fondazione Agire, USI, SUPSI, ETH Zurich and CSCS creates a concrete opportunity to bring secure, measurable AI into Ticino businesses.
On 12 February 2026, Ticino became the first Swiss canton to ratify this kind of memorandum with the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS). The agreement brings together the Canton, Fondazione Agire, USI, SUPSI and ETH Zurich to promote responsible, transparent and secure AI. For local businesses, it opens an ecosystem where expertise, data and computing capacity can become practical applications.
A local advantage must become business value
The Canton’s announcement says that the CSCS can make computing, data and AI services available to institutions, companies and research organisations based in Ticino. Yet access to technology is not enough. Processes must be understood, data organised, responsibilities assigned and people involved.
Where AI can genuinely help a Ticino SME
- Company knowledge: search authorised procedures, technical sheets, contracts and documents.
- Multilingual service: prepare consistent answers in four languages while retaining human approval.
- Requests and quotations: classify incoming contacts, extract useful details and route them correctly.
- Operations: summarise CRM, ERP and web-form data and highlight priorities.
- Content: assist production while preserving the brand voice and editorial control.
A focused pilot tested on real cases is more useful than a large platform that never becomes part of daily work.
Responsible AI is a technical requirement
A company must decide which information may be processed, where it is stored, who can access outputs and when human verification is mandatory. Data classification, role-based access, traceable sources, quality tests and measurable indicators form a solid base.
USI also stresses that data management and digitisation come first. The studies discussed by the University indicate that around 60% of companies surveyed by UBS already use AI tools. The advantage lies in connecting technology to reliable data and processes, not in merely opening a chatbot. Read the USI analysis from 22 May 2026.
How ElaraTeq works locally
ElaraTeq Sagl is a technology company based in Lumino. We combine web development, custom ERP and CRM software, digital consulting, accessibility, content and secure Swiss hosting. Where AI delivers a real benefit, we integrate it into existing tools or build a focused application around the process.
We begin with an operational meeting, including on-site sessions. We map one workflow, identify data and constraints, select a verifiable use case and build a controlled prototype. Integration with the website, customer portal or management platform follows after testing. Budgets and risks remain visible, and the internal team stays involved.
If your organisation operates in Ticino, talk to ElaraTeq. Together we can turn a local need into a secure and useful AI project.
