Ether ETFs keep losing assets, DTCC launches its tokenisation service, Itaú becomes the first Brazilian bank to comply with new rules, CoinShares' Zcash ETP is halted in Paris and a vendor exposes Coinbase data.
Wednesday, 28 October 2026. We bring together the relevant facts of the last 24 hours, each checked against a primary or reliable source: ETF flows, the launch of tokenisation at the central US securities depository, Brazil's new rules, a European ETP halted on its debut and two security incidents.
Markets: bitcoin steady, ether ETFs still losing assets
According to CoinGecko, checked today at 18:10 Zurich time, bitcoin is trading around 80,400 dollars, about 66,680 Swiss francs, down 0.2% over 24 hours; ether is around 2,330 dollars (-0.8%). The Federal Open Market Committee decision is due tonight at 19:00 Zurich time.
According to Farside Investors, US spot bitcoin ETFs took in net inflows of 176.0 million dollars on Tuesday 27 October, a second positive day in a row. The picture differs for spot ether ETFs: outflows of 60.2 million on 27 October and a negative balance in 9 of the last 12 sessions, for a total of about 690 million dollars withdrawn since 12 October.

Tokenisation: DTCC launches its service
The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a DTCC subsidiary and the central depository for US securities with more than 114 trillion dollars in custody, has launched the DTCC Tokenization Service. It creates tokenised representations, backed one to one, of securities held at DTC, carrying the same ownership rights and protections as the originals. At launch, 34 securities are eligible, among Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs and US Treasuries. Twenty participants have signed up, including JPMorgan, Citi, Morgan Stanley, UBS and State Street. Supported networks are Canton and DTCC's private Besu network, with more planned in 2027.
Brazil: Itaú is the first bank to comply with the new rules
Itaú Unibanco, Brazil's largest private bank, has notified the central bank of its crypto-asset trading and custody operations, becoming the first bank to do so under Resolution 520, in force since 2 February. Already authorised institutions active in crypto had 270 days, until 30 October, to notify the regulator with an independent technical certification; dedicated providers must apply for authorisation instead. Those who miss the deadline must stop their services within 30 days. Itaú offers 15 crypto-assets, including BTC, ETH and USDC.
Europe: CoinShares' Zcash ETP halted on its Paris debut
CoinShares announced today the launch on Euronext Paris of a Zcash ETP (ZCSH), 100% backed by physical ZEC, traded in euros and with an annual fee of 1.5%. Euronext, however, suspended trading from 09:00, telling Cointelegraph the reason was operational settlement requirements at the central securities depository. According to a statement by CoinShares to Unchained, trading resumed at noon; we have not yet found a Euronext notice confirming the resumption.
Security: Coinbase data exposed by a vendor, Bithumb breached
Coinbase denied being hacked: an incident at Amplitude, a third-party analytics provider, exposed contact details of a small subset of customers. Funds are not affected, but email addresses and phone numbers can feed phishing attempts. In South Korea, Bithumb said an outsider broke into an internal system used by employees, separate from its trading platform, and took personal data; no loss of crypto-assets has been reported.
